My films and photographs are about ordinary people. The comments on film festivals are based on my own hit/miss experiences since writing and directing my 2 short films.

Personal/Documentary Photography Sites

 

  • I have won various awards nationally and internationally for my photos and films and I've had big solo exhibitions of my work "The Northern Family"details and galleries are Here. The images are in the various sets I've put up in Flickr, I've included an intro on the project with the images in flickr. Here. My 70 minute film 'Backstage' introduced me to the Northern Ireland Screen Commission and led to me making 'The Morning News' (a short film).

  • N.Ireland is infamous for violence, I decided to try and document ordinary life. My aim is to have a selection from the numerous portfolios of "The Northern Family" curated as a separate exhibition to show outside N.Ireland.

  • I meet many people when travelling and there are lots of stories related to my phot ography. I have put up a few of those stories with the relevant individual images Here.

  • I try to send copies of the photos back to the people I meet on my travels but I would like to do a doc on me going back with images to trace the people and give them the images personally. (I'd also like to take more photos and create an exhibition from the doc.) You'll see what I mean from the stories. (Cuba story Here)

Films

 

I have made 2 short films. They have been more successful than I could ever have dreamt. They have both won awards. Highlights were when 'The Morning News' was presented with an award and $1000 by Australia's Minister of Arts in Sydney, winning the Waterford Festival and touring Germany with 'This is England'.

'Call Me Son' won awards in Toronto as the most requested and popular short film (following an interview I did on the radio when people started ringing in to buy tickets to see it). The young actor 'Ciaran Flynn' was seen in 'Call Me Son' by Ridley Scott's company and won a part in Robin Hood playing opposite Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett.
